Standards
'You must have standards. We get some of our greatest improvements from the workmen in that way. The workmen, instead of holding back, are eager to make suggestions. When one is adopted it is named after the man who suggested it, and he is given a premium for having developed a new standard. So in that way we get the finest kind of team work, we have true cooperation, and our method, instead of inventing things that were out of date forty years ago, leads on always to something better than has been known before.' (Taylor, 1912)

Wat een wijsheid!

Civilizations in decline are consistently characterised by a tendency towards standardization and uniformity.
Arnold Toynbee (1889 - 1975)
